First time starting

When you start the miServer app for the first time, you will see an initial welcome-screen.

If you are a first-time-user, please select "Create New Configuration" here.

But if you are already using miServer on another device, please select "Import Configuration" to link your devices together.

You may also be asked at the beginning, if you want to allow the App to send you Push-Notifications.

It is a good idea to do so, as one of the main-features of the App is to notify you about status-changes of your server by Apple's Push-Notifications. Don't worry - we promise to never send you Spam or any other useless info that way.

In addition, you may later fine-tune the Notification-Settings for every single check individually.

Initial configuration

Next, you will be led to the "domain wizard" that will create your first checks.

Just enter your domain-name and hit "done"

It will take a few seconds while we will check the domain and its data and create the appropriate checks for it.

When finished, the app shows its normal face (its status screen) to you.

The "normal face"

The miServer app mainly consists of three screens.

  • The status screen
  • The log view
  • The main options.

At the bottom you may switch between them.

The status screen

The status screen is probably the most interesting view for you. It gives you an overview of all configured checks and lets you see its details.

At the bottom there are two navigation wheels that allow you scroll through your groups (left wheel) and the checks (right wheel).

In the upper half of the display you can see the results for what you have selected below.

The first item of each group is an "overview" which shows you the overall status of all checks that are configured within this group.

Tap on the "+" to add another group or test... and on the "i" to get to the info/configuration screen.

When you tap on the "i" of an "overview" in the upper right corner, you will enter a configuration screen for that group. Here you can add checks to this group or change its name.

When you tap on the "i" of the "check" in the upper right corner, you will enter a configuration screen for that check. Here you change the target (for example the URL or the domain) of a check, rename the check or even move it to another group.

You may also select the notification level for the check here. You can choose if you want to be notified only about the FAIL situations or also about the WARN cases. Sound for the notification can be switched on or off.

With the newest Version of the app, you can also change the number of retries, that are performed on a check before sending out an altert. This way, you can tune the sensitivity of the test, in case you receive false-alarms.

Within the check details you get a list of all details that belong to this check. For example it can contain all nameservers for your domain or all your mailservers if you have more then one.

You may exclude any of these details from the results - for example if there is a familiar problem or you have some special configuration we cannot check, you can get rid of the false alarms.

The log view

Each time when the status of a check changes it will be logged. You can see the history in the log view.

You may select any single log entry, "e-mail" it for example to your server-admin or delete it from the list. You may also clear the complete log.

Finaly there is the "Options" screen. You can access th FAQ... or even directly contact our Support-team if you have any specific question.

If you have more devices, you may link them together, using the Import/Export feature within the "Transfer Configuration" section.

The Store

From the Options-screen, you can also access the build-in Shop.

You can purchase different Subscriptions here, to monitor more domains or reduce the interval of the probes.
